Customize your Knoll Life Chair starting with the armrests. Three different armrests are available depending on the level of adjustability that you prefer. Or you may order your chair with no armrests.
For proper positioning, we recommend at least height adjustable arms. The height adjustable armrests will allow for 4 inches of vertical adjustment, from 5.5 - 9.5 inches from the seat. The armrests include urethane pads with a glass-filled nylon insert.
To make the Knoll Life Chair a proper addition to your ergonomic workspace, add the high performance arms. Adjust the height and width of the arms until they are perfectly positioned to support typing and mousing. The high performance arms feature longer urethane pads that slide forward and back.
Upgrade from the standard urethane armpads to leather armpads. Available in both Sabrina or Volo Spinneybeck leather upholstery, this additional upgrade is sure to take the already classy Knoll Life Chair to the executive level.
Please note: Adding leather armpads will require an additional two weeks of manufacturing time.
Don't overlook the finishing touches on your Knoll Life Chair. The low-profile, five-star base is available in four finishes - black plastic, grey plastic, painted matte aluminum, or polished aluminum.
When one-size doesn't fit all, Knoll gives you the choice of three cylinder heights to fit your chair to your body.

No ergonomic chair is complete without lumbar support. The curve of the frame and the woven design of the back suspension fabric make up the built-in lumbar support of the Knoll Life Chair.
Or add the adjustable lumbar support in Black, Glam, or Poise. The adjustable lumbar is cushioned with slow-recovery foam for supple support. It mounts over the back suspension fabric using magnets, making it easy to reposition or remove altogether.
Hard or soft casters are available in black, grey, or clear. Black or grey casters complement the black or grey plastic base, while the clear casters are a great finishing touch for the painted or polished aluminum base.
If you will be using your chair on a carpeted surface, you will want to choose hard casters to provide a firm rolling action. Soft casters work best on hard flooring surfaces and prevent your chair from rolling away too quickly when you enter or exit your chair.
Glides are also available for a stationary chair.
The back suspension fabric is a durable mesh that offers breathability while maintaining support. A wide variety of vibrant color tones are available to choose from to add interest to an already aesthetically pleasing chair.
The Knoll Life Chair comes standard with mesh suspension fabric and a removable seat topper, which snaps on or off. If you are going to be sitting in your chair for more than five hours per day, we recommend using the 1.75-inch removable foam seat topper. Choose from a wide variety of vibrant fabrics or leather to match the back suspension fabric.
Standard, but not just average, the lightweight Knitted fabric is breathable to keep you comfortable no matter what the thermostat is set to.
For a classic option, Hourglass is a dry, wool-like fabric that is composed of 15% polyester, 8% nylon, and 77% post-consumer recycled polyester. It is durable and easy to keep clean with a mild, water-free solvent.
For a truly luxurious seating experience, Cameo fabric is available. This soft fabric has a chenille feel and is composed of 75% cotton and 25% viscose. It is also easy to keep clean using a mild, water-free solvent.
Volo leather is only made using European hides sourced from northern Italy, southern Germany, and Switzerland. The hand on Volo leather is superior to other leathers in its class thanks to a special retannage that enriches the leather. This leather choice is no sweat, thanks to a protective finish on the hide which protects the surface from spills while keeping you cool.
Sabrina leather is in a buttery league of its own. Only hides from the Piedmont and Tuscany region of Northern Italy will suffice for this fine-grained leather. This leather is durable enough to provide a comfortable seat for years to come. And the vivid array of color choices available will not disappoint.
When the standard, 1.75-inch seat topper just won't do, upgrade to the 2.25-inch thick foam Ultra Seat Topper.
Turning the Knoll Life Chair from a mesh-backed chair into a fully upholstered chair is as easy as snapping on the back topper. The back topper is available in a wide variety of upholstery options to match your seat topper.
For a little extra noggin support, add the black urethane adjustable headrest. Three inches of height adjustment across 12 positions will provide the extra support you desire throughout your workday.
